Abstract
Endometriosis is an inflammatory disease that affects women of childbearing age. Its impact on pregnancy remains unclear due to limitations in previous studies. A French study involving 1,351 pregnant women, including 470 with endometriosis, found no significant association between endometriosis and preterm birth, regardless of its type. However, rare but serious surgical complications may occur, such as spontaneous hemoperitoneum, uroperitoneum, intestinal perforation, and, more rarely, uterine rupture—particularly in women with a history of surgery. While these complications are uncommon, they should not be overlooked. Despite these risks, there is no strong evidence to support the need for specific obstetric follow-up for all patients with endometriosis. However, considering a patient’s surgical history is crucial to tailoring their medical care if necessary. Proper management can help ensure a safe pregnancy while minimizing potential complications.
