The Vesalius Fabrica : discovering the copy from the Hospices Civils Lyon Comments on the history of this copy, its material bibliography, and its restoration

Beyond the Work that is « The Fabrica » by Andrew Vesalius its substance is today reduced to a few hundred books scattered around the world. With so few copies, each copy is unique and has its own history. History of previous owners, its readers and the purpose for which each of these books was used for. The copy presented is a second edition, printed in 1555 in the workshops of the printer Oporinus. Discovered during an inventory at the Hospices Civils Lyon in 2022, this copy of « The Fabrica » was exhibited in 2024 on the occasion of the centenary of the « Association Générale de l’Internat de Lyon » (AGIL).
