Abstract
Donors after cardiac death (DCD) are divided into 4 Maastricht classes according to the circumstances of the occurrence of the cardiac arrest. Category 3 (M3), mainly used as a source of donors in France, includes patients in whom cardiac arrest is controlled, with circulatory death expected after limitation of active treatments (LAT). The protocol set up by the Biomedicine Agency provides for the use of a regional oxygenated normothermic circulation (NRP) after cardiac arrest in order to reduce the occurrence of ischemic cholangitis of the graft. In France, between 2018 and 2023, 687 HTs were performed from Maastricht 3 donor with a one-year survival rate of 94.2% and a 3-year survival rate of 88.1%.
