Abstract
Being a private surgeon takes up a lot of time, leaving little room for other activities. However, subject to excellent organization, it is possible to extend this priesthood to other areas of surgery, such as humanitarian, military and solidarity surgery. For example, it is possible to combine a private practice in vascular surgery with numerous humanitarian missions in war zones with ‘’Doctors Without Borders’’, and several military missions with the ‘’Army Medical Corps’’ on behalf of our French soldiers, while at the same time providing ‘’Medical Aid for the Population’ for the underprivileged.
At the same time, we were able to set up a solidarity association to distribute Personal Protective Equipment to hospitals during the critical period of lack of resources at the start of the Covid19 period. March 2022 saw the creation of Ukraide, a humanitarian association which, in 30 months, has sent 500 tonnes of various equipment to Ukrainian hospitals and hospital patients.
And last but not least, we have a duty of remembrance to honor the establishments and practitioners of an entire region, Franche-Comté, from the 19th century to the present day.
