Abstract
The pedicled latissimus dorsi flap is a historic flap employed since 1900. Nowadays the free and perforator flaps have increased the possibilities of reconstruction surgery. The authors wish to stress the many possibilities offered by the pedicled latissimus dorsi flap. It remains a very reliable, easy to harvest and reproductive flap. It can provide a muscular, musculo cutaneous or even single-cutaneous pad and can cover some very wide defects. In humanitarian or war-zone surgery, this reliable flap is still a very good surgical option and can be fast and easely managed with the minimum surgical device while providing very good aesthetic and functional results.
