Abstract

Since the creation and opening of the Kirchberg Hospital in 2003, as general director together with the executive committee, the medical staff and the nursing department, we implemented new structures concerning medical and surgical training. At the Kirchberg Hospital, in a full-time liberal system assuring continuity of care and taking in charge 24h/24 hours all emergencies, the creation of the Medical Training Center combined with multidisciplinary regular conferences was at the basis of the continual medical education.
The multifactorial choice for the introduction of new technologies must be orientated first towards the major interest for the patient without unbalancing the hospital budget at the expense of other departments.
As examples, we develop the introduction of new technologies in Hand surgery, urology and orthopedics.
Those three examples show that the introduction of new technologies combined with continual training in respect of the financial means and in collaboration with the neighbour Universities, are a winning approach for the patient, the surgeon and the hospital institution.
