Abstract
We report an unusual case of digital ischemia. It results from the wet dressing of a scald lesion of the hand.
As the severity of this rather unusual burn could not be objectively assessed, expert advice was required. A wet dressing was made with compresses around each finger.
Although the patient complained of increasing pain, the dressing was only controlled 24 hours after the onset of pain.
The control revealed severe ischemic skin lesions on the fingers. The ring finger had to be amputated and the others required prolonged care.
There is a high discrepancy between the benign treatment, a simple dressing, and the severity of the ischemic lesions. It is a complex forensic problem. To our knowledge, no similar cases have been reported in the literature.
