Abstract
The TIPP technique (Trans Inguinal Pre Peritoneal) is a minimally invasive technique which consists of placing the patch in the preperitoneal space by the mean of a short inguinal incision, via the hernia orifice (indirect or direct), without any other damage to the abdominal wall. This method requires a patch equiped with a memory-ring to facilitate deployment of the mesh. This technique has two advantages, it allows to perform a preperitoneal repair by a short minimally invasive inguinal incision and it is feasible in local anesthesia. Studies have shown that the TIPP results in a shorter time to resume activity (11d vs 16d), less complications (5% vs 16%), less chronic pain (3.6% vs 12.9%) and a better quality of life than the Lichtenstein technique.
