The operative and surgery-related risks are sometimes confusedwith hazard. The difference is that unlike hazards, these risks canand must be reduced to a minimum by prevention and management.We must be concerned with every aspect of the patient’smanagement: the personal surgeon’s responsibility is as importantas the constant effort to maintain a proper organization of thepaediatric surgery unit using the human and financial resourcesavailable to their best.The proper management of surgery-related risks, largely under thesurgeon’s responsibility, should allow better relations betweensurgeons and their patients.
