Abstract

This presentation examines musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) among operating room
nurses and highlights the significant gap between their frequency and their low reporting
rate. Although many professionals suffer from work-related pain, these conditions are
rarely officially reported, except during sick leave. Several barriers explain this situation,
including the difficulty of recognizing the occupational origin of pain, lack of information
about reporting procedures, unclear definitions of MSDs, and limited trust in institutions.
The study also points out the lack of appropriate preventive measures within healthcare
facilities. However, these disorders have major consequences on caregivers’ health,
quality of life at work, and the quality of patient care. Reporting MSDs therefore appears
essential to improve prevention strategies, better assess occupational risks, obtain
appropriate resources, and enhance the attractiveness and retention of future
generations of healthcare professionals.
