Abstract
Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are conditions resulting from overuse of the limbs and spine, varying in location and type (tendinopathies, neuropathies, arthropathies); they are multifactorial, work-related, and carry a high risk of becoming chronic. However, these conditions are linked to ergonomic factors present in the healthcare setting (Soignances study). Occupations in the surgical field are exposed to these risks in varying degrees. We conducted an in-depth study focusing on bariatric operating room staff. Using PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus (CRD420261329658), we identified a limited but consistent body of literature on physical strain and musculoskeletal complaints (neck, shoulder, back). Beyond the limitations of representativeness, needs in ergonomics and health promotion open the door to research and preventive action in these specific populations.
