Abstract
The natural history of disc-vertebral degeneration is usually silent. Sometimes, this aging process is punctuated by lumbar-radicular accidents. Their recurrence indicates disc-vertebral instability.
If medical-physical treatment is ineffective, surgical intervention must be considered: this is the role of dynamic stabilization ; the goal of which is to restore rigidity close to that of a normal spine and, by stabilizing the lesions and even allowing them to heal, to defer potential arthrodesis, whose harmful effects are well-known.
From interlaminar stabilization, which allows the use of minimally invasive or even endoscopic techniques, to stabilization using pedicle screws with variable stiffness to best adapt to each type of lesion, the therapeutic options are wide-ranging.
The goal of dynamic stabilization remains to place the patient in the course of the natural history of disc-vertebral degeneration.
