Abstract

Facial gunshot wound, most often as a result of suicide attempts, occurs mainly in the rural population.
The initial defect, which is pluritissular (bone and soft tissue), may increase in the days following the trauma, because of the delayed effect of the blast.
Reconstruction is therefore delayed, with a challenge for the surgeon of restoring both morphology and function.
By simultaneously reconstructing the bone and surrounding soft tissue, osteogenic distraction provides a logical and satisfactory response to the both problem.
In this presentation, we report on our scientific and clinical expertise in reconstructing the third-lower of the face using osteogenic distraction
