Abstract

Therapeutic management of locally advanced esophageal and oesophagogastric junction cancers is complex and relies on multidisciplinary care. For unresectable tumors, the standard treatment is exclusive chemoradiotherapy. For those that are resectable, several therapeutic options can be considered depending on the histological type. For squamous cell carcinomas, preoperative or exclusive chemoradiotherapy are discussed. For adenocarcinomas, surgery can be preceded by preoperative chemoradiotherapy or surrounded by perioperative chemotherapy. Adjuvant immunotherapy brings new hope.
