Abstract
Until recently, lung surgery involved major open-chest surgical procedures, in patients who were immobilized for prolonged periods. Nowadays, this surgery evolved to become minimally invasive in a closed-chest setting, in mobile patients with an optimized care pathway. A real paradigm shift is therefore observed in this pulmonary surgery dominated by oncological diseases, thanks to major progress in public health with the development of screening strategies, and to medical and surgical advances through the optimization of care pathways and a revolution in the surgical approach.
