Abstract
Carotid body tumors are rare, most often benign and discovered in the presence of cervical swelling. Cross-sectional imaging, CT or MRI, allows to determine the anatomical characteristics before surgical treatment. Located on the carotid bifurcation and by nature hypervascularized, carotid body tumors present surgical difficulties which will be discussed and which explain that experienced teams are required. In all cases, a multidisciplinary analysis is mandatory.
