Abstract
Training in research ethics and scientific integrity for doctoral students in all specialties has been mandatory since 2016 in France. It is entrusted to doctoral schools, which are free to organize this teaching as they see fit. A survey of French doctoral schools carried out in 2018 to find out how this training was organized showed that these schools were already well engaged in this teaching throughout the country, and that the trend was to strengthen it.
Since then, the general awareness of the importance of these subjects for tomorrow's research has been confirmed. Teaching options are diversifying, with several MOOCs available, and these issues are addressed more broadly during research training from the Master 2 level, and on a daily basis in the laboratories. When defending their thesis, doctoral students take an oath to respect the fundamental principles of scientific integrity throughout their career. These advances are essential and will help strengthen public confidence in the results of science.
