The trans question and the situation of the concerned people

Fashion phenomenon, epidemic, fad, mental disorder... Trans people have to face rejection and discrimination fueled by misinformation and untruths that affect the media and institutions. And who influence those who know nothing about transidentities… Respect begins with understanding the difference between sex and gender, but also with the use of the right vocabulary, words that do not hurt. At the hospital, we still talk about “transsexualism” and “mental disorder”. However, the situation is progressing on the legal and societal level. Work has just begun with the Haute Autorité de Santé (HAS) with health personnel and the concerned people in order to develop new recommendations for the medical reception of trans people.
