Abstract

After a proximal acute DVT, spontaneous recanalisation of proximal veins is often very poor leading to chronic post thrombotic syndrome. This situation can concern young women after oral contraception and tobacco that end up with a swollen leg, and no other resource than compression stocking life-long. In general, this syndrome combines heavy legs, claudication and sometimes venous ulcer. Dupplex echography can visualize residual thrombotic/fibrotic obstruction. Recanalisation and stenting under general anesthesia is an efficient treatment Allowing good functionnal restoration in most of the cases.
