Abstract

Today, planning of minimally invasive aortic interventions is based on manual analysis of preoperative scanner, using geometric imaging software. This technique does not allow to assess stent-graft behaviour during and after the procedure. For this reason, a number of severe complications such as endoleaks and graft thrombosis may occur. These complications may be life-threatening and generally require secondary interventions. Numerical simulation techniques used for decades in the industry have the capacity to generate a patient specific aortic digital twin and simulate stent-graft deployment. This technology gives access to precise analysis of stent-graft behaviour ahead of the procedure, enabling to predict complications and enhance clinical outcomes.
