Abstract

Shortage of surgical workforce in low and middle income countries and its dramatic human and economic consequences have been outlined by the Lancet commision : « Global Surgery 2030 ». Training of general practitioners or non medical staff in essential surgery, every day surgery, is the only way to obtain surgical access for everybody. Efficiency of such a training has been highlighted in Niger. Reliable access to surgery is an universal human right which needs an international action.
