Abstract

Type A fracture is the most common fractures of the thoracolumbar spine, but there is no consensus this day for its management. There is still a debate on the presence or not of a disc lesion above the fractured endplate. We think that the intervertebral disc is healthy and that it is a purely bony lesion. So there is a real justification to perform with minimally invasive approach a reconstruction of the vertebral body respecting disc spaces.Vertebral reconstruction systems are multiple, more or less effective in their ability to raise the superior vertebral endplate, and cement injection for immediate stabilization needs to be evaluate in the long term. Finally, the analysis of the quality of the reduction in the operating room is based routinely on plain radiographs only. The progress regarding development of techniques of vertebral reconstruction and imaging with three-dimensional reconstruction embarked in the operating room will greatly benefit this type of fracture.
