Abstract
In 1901, at the Society of Biology of Paris, JA Sicard opened up new horizons for a non-surgical treatment of sciatica by reporting the result of injection of cocain in the human epidural space by the road of the sacrococcygeal hiatus. During more than a century, many major discoveries: cortisone, discal herniation, CT scan and MRI, enzyme chimionucleolysis, endoscopic spinal surgery…. solved a part of the problem, while others remained somewhat mysterious. The aim of this review is to take stock: where do we stand in 2016? What are the more effective percutaneous treatments? For what indication? With what results ?
