Past and Future of Microsurgery in Pediatric Surgery

Abstract
Microsurgery is a technic which appear during the 70’s and became year after year a gold standard in the management of loss of substance after trauma or tumor resection. His application in pediatric surgery was less easy due to the fear of failure, technical difficulties (vessel diameter) and the risk of sequeale. On the contrary, due to the quality of the vessels (no atheroma) the rate of success is more important in children. The authors show two cases proving the utility of microsurgery for the management of acute trauma or sequelae. Then, they discuss the place of microsurgery in the decision three for comparison with new technics like negative pressure therapy and substitute skin. Microsurgery is a technic which have recently proove his role in allotransplantaion. Such type of technic have not yet been realized for children and the authors discuss the possibility, the difficulty and the interest of such realization in pediatric surgery
