Uterine Transplantation

MILLIEZ J

Seance of wednesday 18 february 2015 (COMMUNICATIONS LIBRES)

Abstract

The first baby born after uterine transplantation, was delivered in september 2014 in Sweeden. This event is the result of more than ten years of research by the multidisciplinary team of Mats Brännsröm at the University of Götebörg. It raises multiple questions concerning what is now a reality, technical questions (live donnor or post mortem organ donation?), ethical questions (what guide lines for a non vital transplantation?), even philosophical questions (what is the physical and psychological price to pay for bearing its own child?). Answers will also be societal.
