Abstract

Whether congenital, acquired or iatrogenic, ureteral strictures are sometimes ignored and diagnosis frequently delayed when back pain related to the presence of hydronephrosis appears. Open surgery approach has long occupied a special place without alternative. The contribution of new technologies has fundamentally changed this support by focusing on first-line technical endo urology. The incision of the stenosis by ureteroscopy (Holmium: YAG) with high pressure balloon dilatation create a divulsion of the parietal fibrosis area behind the stenosis. More recently, minimally invasive surgical procedures tend to take precedence over open surgery, causing less pain, faster recovery and minimal scarring.
