Abstract

Arterial injuries to the extremities account for 10% of combat casualties. Both vital and functional prognoses are involved. Classically, the treatment requires a surgical hemostasis prior to surgery with revascularization in one time. Repeatedly reported in the civilian and military literature, the use of temporary vascular shunt is an attractive alternative fitting to the principle of damage control.
