Abstract
Hidradenitis suppurativa is a chronic disease, severe forms of which may be highly invalidating. It is an inflammatory disease of the cutis with furuncles, fistulas and abscesses. The disease is mostly located in groin and axilla. The etiology is idiopathic and medical treatment offers temporary relief only. Conservative treatment of hidradenitis suppurativa is followed by a high rate of recurrence. The therapy of choice is the radical excision of the affected region associated with open granulation, split skin grafting or flap.
