In January 2003, the French society of thoracic and cardio-vascularsurgery initiated « EPITHOR project », which is the national databaseof thoracic surgery. Four years after, 65% of French thoracicsurgery teams participate, the database contains more than 56 000procedures and the “THORACOSCORE” was created: it is the firstin-hospital mortality scoring system.
