Abstract
Discussion about kidney transplantation from living donors hasrecently focused on the future of donors. It seems now proven thatunilateral nephrectomy has no deleterious effect on kidney functioneven after a very long follow-up. Very few papers are dealing withoccurrence of surgical diseases on a solitary kidney after nephrectomyfor living donation. The authors report on the case of a kidneytumor on the remaining kidney thirty years after living donation.Nephron sparing surgery with a follow-up of 6 years has givenexcellent result with a normal renal function. As far as we knowthere is no similar case reported. This case emphasizes the role of acareful follow-up of patients having had a nephrectomy for livingdonation and the good results obtained by nephron sparing surgeryin this very particular case.
