Abstract
Erectile dysfunction, though much written about in the media, remainsa confidential subject and is the reason for a specific consultationby 22% of males in France.Femur shaft fracture, the result of violent trauma, most often affectsyoung men.Struck by the number of erectile problems in patients who wereoperated on by intramedullary nailing for femoral shaft fracture, weconducted an evaluation (41% of the cases) by means of a selfquestionnaireIIEF. How can this complication be prevented?The validated IIEF questionnaire was addressed to a cohort of 84patients; 47 patients responded, 20 of them complained of somedegree of E.D. Postoperative E.D. is caused by direct and indirectlesions of the pudendal nerve, secondary to the pressure induced bycounter-traction on the perineum. Biomechanical study has allowedus to identify the compression areas and to propose effective prevention.
