Abstract
Management of patients with advanced stage ovarian cancer wasdeeply modified during the last years. The standard managementremains the initial cytoreductive surgery (in order to achieve themost complete resection of peritoneal disease) followed by adjuvantchemotherapy. But morbidity of this management is high, particularlyin the subgroup of patients with massive peritoneal spread.Development of interval debulking surgery (after induction chemotherapy)in these patients, changes the morbidity and quality of life.Nevertheless results of randomized studies, actually ongoing, areawaited in order to assess precisely the results of such management. Results of interval surgery, and criteria used to select patients betweeninitial and interval debulking surgery, are reviewed.
