Abstract
Despite significant progress, myocardial preservation remains achallenging issue because of the growing severity of the patientscandidates to cardiac surgery. The most recent innovations includingnormothermic cardioplegia, beating heart surgery, detection ofhigh risk patients do not challenge the fundamental principles developpedby Jean Paul Cachera.
