Abstract

The valorization of research is one of the 3 missions, enshrined in law since 1982, which is the responsibility of French academic research organizations and universities. This is explained by the challenge for national competitiveness. Nevertheless, academics and researchers must be able to demonstrate an aptitude for teaching, a training in research but have no training in the promotion of research.
Ignorance of the rules of intellectual protection (patent ...) by surgeons, researchers and doctors, leads to an escape from innovative projects abroad.
The lack of professional training of researchers in the promotion of research during their university studies is responsible for the withdrawal from innovative projects. In fact, any disclosure, during a thesis, of a publication, of a poster ..., of an invention unprotected before a patent, puts it in the public domain and no longer allows it to be patented. An industrialist generally refuses to invest in the development of a non-patented innovation because it will be copied by the competition and the industrialist will no longer be able to claim a return on investment. On the whole it is the patients who are penalized because either the innovation will not leave, or its development will be delayed or carried out abroad while the research was possible thanks to public funding. On the contrary if the valorization to the research is well carried out, it is the hope of the patients which is concretized and new means put at the disposal of the surgeon.
